Texture, finish, scent, key ingredients, claims and a target price. A reference product helps.

  2. 2

Usually two or three versions, so you can compare them side by side.

  3. 3

    Tell us what to change

We adjust and send the next round. Most products are approved by round three.

    We source every ingredient

From vetted suppliers, each with a certificate of analysis and safety data. Need vegan, fragrance-free or a retailer's "clean" list? We formulate to it.

04Process & timing

Launches slip in the gaps. We plan them out.

A new formula, from brief to shipped. Doing each step after the last one takes 37 weeks. Running tests, packaging and artwork side by side takes 23.

Where launches usually slip, and what we do instead

  • Packaging shows up late.

We order it as soon as you approve a sample, not after testing.

  • A test fails at the end.

We test in your final pack from week one, so there are no late surprises.

  • Artwork goes back and forth.

One proof, one checklist. We check label rules for every market you sell in.

05Packaging

We source it. Or we fill yours.

  1. We quote options from our suppliers.
  2. You approve a physical sample.
  3. We test it with your formula.
  4. We order, receive and check every lot.

09Straight answers

Who owns what, and other good questions.

Who owns the formula?

Ready-madeEmulsa. You license it for your brand.
ModifiedExclusive to you. Buyout available.
OriginalYou, once development is paid.
Your formulaYou. Always.

Confidentiality

  • We sign an NDA before you share anything.
  • Your formula, brief and sales numbers stay private.
  • We never show your product without written permission.
  • Your exclusive formula is never sold to another brand.
What's your minimum order?

1,000 units per product for ready-made formulas. 2,500 for modified formulas. 5,000 for original formulas and formulas you own. Some packs change this, and your quote will confirm it.

Who owns the formula?

It depends on the route. You own original formulas once development is paid, and formulas you bring are always yours. Modified formulas are exclusive to you, with a buyout option. Ready-made formulas stay ours and are licensed to your brand.

Can you source the packaging?

Yes. We quote options from our suppliers, test them with your formula and manage the order. You can also supply your own packaging, and we'll check that it runs on our lines.

What testing is included?

Stability, packaging compatibility and microbial testing of every batch. New formulas also get a preservative challenge test. Patch tests, SPF and clinical claims are optional, through partner labs.

Which markets can you support?

Canada, the United States, the EU, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. We prepare the documents and label checks for each one, and work with partners for the EU safety report and Responsible Person.

How long until my product is ready?

6–10 weeks for ready-made, 10–16 for modified, 16–28 for original formulas and 8–12 to move a formula you own. Reorders ship in 4–6 weeks.

How much does it cost?

Unit price depends on the formula, the pack and the quantity. Development fees are $0 for ready-made and start at $1,500 for custom work. Send a brief and we'll quote a range within 2 business days.

Can I try samples before I commit?

Yes. Ready-made samples ship within a week. Custom lab samples take 2–3 weeks. Sample fees are credited to your first order.
